Circle the City Bikepath Loop Sunday, August 5, 2012
|
To celebrate Boston's third Circle the City event, we'll do a 17-mile circle
around a piece of the city almost entirely on existing and future bikepaths
and bike lanes. From the Rose
Kennedy Greenway, we'll head over the dam to Charlestown, across the new
bike/ped bridge to Cambridge and get on the Charles River Path on the Boston
side of the river. We'll follow the Charles River Bikepath upstream to the
bridge to Silber Way at Boston University and connect to the Emerald Necklace
via Park Drive. We'll follow the Muddy River upstream to Arnold Arboretum
using some creative interpretations of the Necklace. Leaving the Arboretum,
we'll follow Bussey Brook to Stony Brook at Forest Hills, bike through the
Orange Line Station and follow the Pierre Lallement Southwest Corridor Bike
Path down the Stony Brook valley to Ruggles Station. We'll turn right on
the Melnea Cass Bikepath, which is really the beginning of the nascent
South Bay Harbor Trail, which takes us all of the way to the Old Northern
Avenue Bridge, which takes us right back to the Rose Kennedy Greenway.
This ride is sponsored by
the Boston Cyclists Union and the
Circle the City project.
