I rode halfway home with a neighbor in lightly falling snow on Monday
night on paths which were just starting to get a layer of snow and
streets which were still clear. By Tuesday morning, there was a
significant amount of snow, and after an hour-long 9:00 am telecon, I
shovelled 3-4 inches of the couple of hundred feet of sidewalk around my
corner and to my front and back doors. It was pretty light and almost
fluffy, the kind of snow which plows pretty cleanly, leaving a residue
on pavement which often melts in the sun.

Two miles of bike lanes on both sides of Washington St. from Forest Hills
to Roslindale Square and to West Roxbury on Belgrade Ave. and buffered and
wide bike lanes along American Legion Highway

The streets are pretty clear to the curb, so the lanes on Washington St.
and Cummins Highway were clear, though with worn-out lines in many
places. I suspect that those on Belgrade Ave., Walk Hill St.,
and Cummins Highway will be clear, I'm not as sure about the buffered
bike lanes on American Legion Highway.

Clear because cars can now park to the curb. Parking lanes are narrow,
though, so delivery trucks and large SUV's stick into the bike lane sometimes.

Jamaicaway Bikepath
1.5 miles of mostly bike/ped-separated paths paralleling
a busy 4-lane parkway; two intersections with traffic lights
Boston Parks Deparment

Plowed by midday Tuesday, but not always to bare pavement. There was
some drifting north of Willow Pond Road by Daisy Field, and I fell when
I biked off the edge of the pavement. Wednesday morning, I followed
Perkins St. to the the Brookline side, but the path looked icy, so I
stayed on the street until just before the Route 9 crossing and followed
a slightly icy path to Brookline Ave.

These paths aren't plowed because they get relatively little transportation
use and because they are used by cross-country skiers like me. There
are marked narrow bike lanes on Enneking Parkway through the
reservation which are probably clear. After this snowfall, the paths
should be pretty bikable, though there will be ice.
