I've been remiss in doing bike path reports this winter, probably because by the time I have ridden on them, the paths are wet or clear. Not this morning. After a foot of snow fell on Boston all day yesterday--I stayed inside reading and Internetting--and the temperature dropped into the teens overnight, this morning was an interesting ride. All of the main streets were pretty clear, though not their bike lanes, and the paths tended to be plowed to packed powder. It will probably stay this way for a few more days despite some warming with the next snow on Saturday and Sunday.

Arnold Arboretum 1.5 miles of park roads which are mostly closed to automobile traffic with no intersections Boston Parks and Harvard University	The road from the Forest Hills gate to the main gate was packed powder and easy with deep treads. There was occasionally ice underneath, so watch out. The rest of the Arboretum is probably the same
Blackwell Footpath A half-mile gravel path connecting the Forest Hills MBTA station and the South St. Arboretum entrance Boston Parks and Harvard University	It didn't look plowed when I biked by on Washington St.
Roslindale Bike Lanes Two miles of bike lanes on both sides of Washington St. from Forest Hills to Roslindale Square and to West Roxbury on Belgrade Ave. and buffered and wide bike lanes along American Legion Highway Boston Public Works Department	I didn't ride them, but I suspect that they're gone when next to parked cars.

Minuteman "Commuter Bikeway" Towns of Cambridge, Arlington, Lexington, and Bedford	Rod Holland reports on Friday: Curiosity drove me to drive to work via a serpentine route that crossed the Minuteman at least twice in each of Arlington, Lexington, and Bedford. It appears that the Minuteman was plowed, to a first approximation, and to my eye appears ridable, at least with studs and knobbies. Some of the intersections have troublesome berms of plowed snow, with Meriam Street, Lexington, being the worst example I saw. Experience suggests that there may be other bad spots, but this first look was favorable.

There are marked narrow bike lanes on Enneking Parkway through the reservation which are probably clear. After this snowfall, the paths should be pretty bikable, though there will be ice.

Northampton Bikeway East-west across the City of Northampton City of Northampton	Craig Della Penna, who lives next to the path, has reported that it is the intention of the DPW to make it passable ASAP after a storm. If the storm is significant, then they plow it repeatedly --sometimes 10-12 times during the course of the storm to ensure its usability.
Norwottuck Rail Trail Northampton to Amherst Department of Conservation and Recreation	No report.
