I returned to Boston on Tuesday night from an icy start in Illinois on
Monday to an icy finish in Boston as slush and water, which I guess fell
as our first real snow of December 2015, on streets and sidewalks turned
to solid ice. I cleared the ice to my back door so I could unload my car,
because the front walk was intractably ice-covered. It got colder
overnight, but the streets and trails were mostly clear in the morning.
It didn't warm up as much as it was supposed to today, so these
conditions should hold till mid-day Thursday when everything should
melt.

The path upstream from the BU Bridge to the Weeks Footbridge was mostly
clear, but there were a few bad spots, especially around the Riverside

create something worse.

These paths aren't plowed because they get relatively little transportation
use and because they are used by cross-country skiers like me. There
are marked narrow bike lanes on Enneking Parkway through the
reservation which are probably clear. Though after this snowfall, the paths
should be pretty bikable, and there usually isn't any ice.

10-12 times during the course of the storm to ensure its usability.
