This winter we just don't seem to be getting snow. After a few dustings
and one slightly heavier dusting that started melting within hours after it
fell with a deluge of rain (I biked through both), we finally got a long enough
spell of cold weather to keep the half-inch of snow from melting by itself.
Streets were cleared by salt, except along some edges, and bike lanes remained
mostly clear and bikable, though there can always be patches of ice lurking
under the snow, so watch out.

Narrow, shared bike-ped path with few intersections

Conditions have varied over the week, with a thin layer of snow
over most of the path, but some wind clearing. On the Cambridge
side, bad icy patches remain under the snow at the Riverside Boad
Club and between River St. and Western Ave. The Boston side had
some small icy puddles between River St. and the B.U. Bridge which
are now probably covered by snow unless salt from Storrow Drive
has melted some.

These paths aren't plowed because they get relatively little transportation
use and because they are used by cross-country skiers like me. There
are marked narrow bike lanes on Enneking Parkway through the
reservation which are probably clear. Though after this snowfall, the paths
should be pretty bikable, and there usually isn't any ice.
