NepRWA's Neponset River Cleanup on September 22 a Success
The Neponset River Watershed Association (NepRWA) led volunteers in removing trash from water and land to help beautify the area and restore fish and wildlife habitats in Canton, Hyde Park, Mattapan and Milton. Most of the cleanup sites were along the Greenway. NepRWA's recap is here, with more pictures here. Mary Ellen Gambon reported about it in the Boston Bulletin newspapers.
The Mattapan/Milton Neponset Community Celebrated on September 29
The Mattapan Milton Neponset Community (MMNC) celebrated a new connection between the Town of Milton and the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston on the Ryan Playground field and around the Harvest River Bridge on Saturday, September 29th from 12-3 pm. There were musicians, arts and crafts, local organizations, and a family-friendly bike ride along the trail.
Changes Coming to Mattapan Square for Pedestrians
The Boston Transportation is working with its consultants, Toole Design, to improve pedestrian crossings between River St., Cummins Highway, and Blue Hill Ave. The first changes will be small, but they want the community to be on the lookout for those experiments. Major or permanent changes won't happen before there is a public meeting.
