Last Day of Winter Neponset Greenway Bike Ride
Saturday, March 19, 2016

After the two delays of last year, we got to ride on the beautiful last day of winter this year.
Over four hours, we biked from Castle Island along the waterfront and up the Neponset River to
Central Ave. in Milton, where the northeastern segment currently ends. After a stop to check
out the site of the eventual trail bridge over the Neponset River, we rejoined the trail in Mattapan
Square and biked to Readville for hot cocoa and donuts. After checking out the eventual terminus
of the trail at Paul's Bridge, we turned around and rode back to Mattapan on the Truman Parkway bike
lane, checked out progress on the trail's Canopy Bridge over the trolley tracks east of the station.
On the way back to Castle Island, we rode Eliot St. in Milton to the trail overlook in Milton Village
and Olmsted's Dorchester Park.
