MassBikePike Tour, Keene, NH to Deerfield, MA, Friday, August 2, 2013

We packed up our soggy tents after a night of showers to head off into a clear day filled with 5 covered bridges and more on the short route. Lee and I both had snails on our tent bags. On the way out of town, I stopped at Andy's Bike Shop. He opened early for us and I found out that he was born in Dorchester. There was a connected women's bike shop next door! I liked the last bridge the best and spent a long time with the woman in the nearby historical society, who used to work at the Smithsonian. After lots more river views, we got to Massachusetts and some real ice in Northfield. After three crossings of the Connecticut River, our tour ended on the playing fields of Deerfield Academy, where we got rained on after a nice dinner.
